Founded by Dennard Hegna and carried forward by our family, Arctic Chaga was created to share premium wild-harvested Alaskan chaga and functional mushroom products with people who care about quality, source, and simple daily rituals.
Our chaga is hand-picked from birch trees in the remote Interior Alaska wilderness. We harvest with respect for the land, process with care, and create products that make it easy to bring Alaska’s powerful natural ingredients into everyday life.

Founder Story – Dennard Hegna
A welder and ironworker by trade, Dennard never imagined he would one day own a mushroom tea company. In 2012, during a pivotal time in his life he was exploring the woods with a friend, where he was introduced to chaga growing on Alaska’s birch trees. Curious about its history and traditional use, he began learning everything he could about this unique mushroom.
What started as a simple curiosity quickly grew into a passion. Dennard was inspired by the idea that one of nature’s most remarkable resources had been growing in Alaska’s forests for generations, yet so few people knew about it.
Determined to share chaga with others, he founded Arctic Chaga in 2013. What began as a small operation has grown into a family-owned business dedicated to responsibly harvesting and providing high-quality wild Alaskan chaga to customers around the world.
Today, Arctic Chaga remains rooted in the values that inspired it from the beginning: hard work, perseverance, and respect for nature. Dennard’s mission has always been simple—to introduce more families around the world to chaga and share a product that has been enjoyed for generations.
